Earlier this week I heard about Java being open sourced by Sun. I think it is interesting, but I doubt I will actually go and check out the source code. I may eventually do that, but I seriously doubt I would ever go and actually try to commit a change to it. But I digress. I wonder how many people will actually go out and contribute? Only a handful is my guess. Business-wise what does this mean? I'm not sure, I doubt it will help Sun and it may hurt IBM a little bit, but I don't think there will be any changes. So why do it? Good question, I don't know but I like Steve's analysis.
