Here are a few movies that I've watched lately and my reviews:
Into The Wild
I thought this movie was pretty well done overall. The story didn't deviate much from the book, and I actually got some insight into Christopher McCandless and his journey to find himself. I'm also a little more forgiving of how he went into the wilderness and died. I live in Fairbanks at the time, and when the news first came out we all figured that some naive hippy from the lower 48 came up to Alaska to try to "live off the land" and died due to stupidity and ineptitude. He really died from making cascading mistakes, but he certainly wasn't stupid or inept. I still think he could have been a little more resourceful, and it is pretty stupid to go out into the Alaskan wilderness by yourself. People from the lower 48 don't seem to grasp the concept of help not coming if you run into trouble. In addition to my social commentary I give this a 7/10.
Bee Movie
Overall this movie was funny, and one guy in the movie theater thought it was really funny and laughed really loud at all the jokes and situations. I had more fun laughing at his laughing than I did laughing at the movie itself. I think kids would probably like this movie, but it wont' win best movie of the year. I give it a 6/10.
28 Weeks Later
This movie is the sequel to 28 days later and it is a continuation of the zombie/infected people genre. This movie actually freaked me out. After I watched this movie and then took Wookie for a walk I half expected zombie like people to start running after me. Luckily no nightmares followed. I give it a 6/10. :-)
