On July 3rd Tom, Timber, and I went to Ventana Wilderness for a day hike. We wanted to go to take the Pine Ridge Trail to Pine Valley. We didn't make it that far because it was hot and I ended up laying down on the trail several times. But I did really enjoy the day hike because they let me off of my leash and I got to run up and down the trail (when I had energy) with reckless abandon. It wasn't until we got about a mile down the trail that I decided to lay down and not move at all. Tom gave me lots of water and even doused me with water. He also gave me plenty of time to rest but I just wasn't going anywhere. He finally decided to turn around and once he did that I had a little more energy. Once we made it back to the truck he gave me ice and let me relax for a little bit before we headed for the coast where it was quite a bit cooler. It was a fun trip but I would prefer to go when the weather is cooler.
